Delivery Divisional Manager - Data & Projects

Overview of the role

To provide an efficient, commercially viable home delivery service (HDS) for all customer groups. Responsible for leading the development of Flexipod scanners and the export of data generated from this activity. To measure the compliance of scan activity via data, and to hold full budget responsibility for driver activity against volume. Leading the team through transformational change to drive improved service and performance, communicating a simple compelling long-term vision to the team, ensuring that a consistent approach across the network is taken in delivering an industry leading delivery service.

Main Responsibility

  • To produce all MI data, cascading to the teams for on-going review and improvement.
  • To maintain and develop the scanning functionality and activity across the HDS operation.
  • Continuous review of MI data to, enabling efficiencies to be improved throughout the HDS operation.
  • To review and monitor governance of all training and process controls that ensure all legal requirements are adhered to across the HDS.
  • Supporting the Transport Manager to achieve, circa £10m budget control, spread over all aspects of the operation.
  • Lead communication for drivers and management team within network.
  • Contribute to estate-wide strategic developments to ensure HDS remains commercially successful and fit for purpose within the business sector.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with the central functions and divisional operational management teams influencing GDP.
  • Establish a culture with a continuous improvement mind-set approach demonstrating tangible benefit realisation.

Key knowledge and skills required for the role:

  • Ability to produce and analyse MI to identify and use for cost and service improvements.
  • Legislative knowledge – Ideally Health & Safety, driver safety and legal requirements and GDP
  • Experience working within a role that requires large scale resource & budget management
  • Experience managing change within a business
  • Stakeholder management, communication, planning and influencing skills
  • Full UK drivers’ licence

Problem solving & Change:

  • Considers a wide range of internal and external information, identifying service issues and development opportunities, trailing new ways of working that may impact on change across the HDS and the business.
  • Dealing with challenging day to day issues around people, resource and spend within business defined policies.
  • Adapting to ever changing circumstances and to work within tight budgets and resource limitations.
  • Responding to critical operational issues with pace making confident, quick, decisions.
