Overview of the role

This Finance Analyst role is a key position within the Retail Finance Team. The role is responsible for providing insight and analysis that will be used to drive business performance, enable informed decision-making and guide business strategy.

Main Responsibility

  • Ensuring the weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual performance reporting is accurate and timely.
  • Providing analysis and insight to the business that enables clear recommendations to be made and actions to be taken to improve performance and hold stakeholders to account.  
  • Performing ad-hoc analysis to support the retail finance team and wider team as projects arise, enabling informed decision-making and helping to drive the strategy of the business forwards.
  • Supporting the month end review process, including preparing business-wide reports with commentary and insight, identifying risks and opportunities and presenting them to the business.
  • Understanding external benchmarking and market data and using it to assess areas of opportunity, bring external targets and insights into the business and prompt discussions with stakeholders.
  • Continuous ownership and process improvement, amending the existing reporting suite to ensure reporting is fit for purpose and the data is accurate.
  • Scoping new reporting requirements for the Operations teams, building the reports and handing them over to the offsite reporting team to deliver ongoing production.

Key knowledge and skills required for the role:

  • Part-qualified accountant or a desire to study towards an accounting qualification.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and pro-active.
  • Ability to prioritise and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Essential - Experience completing analysis in Excel.
  • Desirable - Experience building reports and analysing data in Power Query / Power BI.

Problem solving & change:

  • Applying commercial understanding and business knowledge to reporting & analysis.
  • Partnering with finance and non-finance stakeholders to ensure accountability against budget and targets and support strategic decision-making.
