People Development Partner

Overview of the role

People Development Partner

We're looking for a People Development Partner who’s fired up about building brilliant leaders, unlocking potential, and making learning stick — not just in the classroom, but on the ground, in the real world.

This is a high-impact role where you’ll shape and deliver learning solutions that elevate management capability, embed soft skills, and support our teams to drive commercial performance — at pace, at scale, and with heart.

You’ll also play a key role in supporting wider functional and operational training needs across the business — ensuring teams are technically equipped, compliant, and confident from day one.

You’ll be the go-to expert in leadership development and behavioural skills, bringing energy, expertise, and clarity to a fast-paced, multi-site organisation.

What you’ll be doing

Design and Delivery with Purpose

  • Create powerful, practical learning that drives real behaviour change — leadership, management, soft skills, and everything in between.
  • Deliver engaging, high-energy sessions across a mix of formats: in-person, virtual, blended.
  • Continuously test, learn, and improve — measuring impact, not just attendance.

Be the Business Partner

  • Work closely with leaders and HR partners to spot development needs and craft targeted solutions that support performance and strategy.
  • Translate business goals into capability plans that help us get where we’re going — faster.
  • Partner with business functions to develop and deliver role-specific technical training, aligned to operational needs and priorities.
  • Support the business in meeting compliance requirements for mandatory and health & safety training.

Champion Scalable, Smart Learning

  • Build and roll out programmes that work across sites, functions, and formats — whether people are remote, hybrid, or on the front line.
  • Develop toolkits, playbooks, and self-serve content that empower individuals and teams to own their development.
  • Manage and continually enhance the business induction programme, ensuring a consistent and impactful new starter experience.

Drive Culture and Capability

  • Be a catalyst for building a culture of feedback, coaching, and continuous learning.
  • Contribute to and support performance management processes across the business.
  • Support talent development and succession planning, helping to identify and prepare our future leaders.
  • Work closely with leadership to ensure we have the right people, with the right skills, in the right roles — now and in the future.

What you’ll bring

Must-haves

  • Proven experience in designing and delivering learning that develops managers and leaders.
  • Confident facilitator who can energise a room — whether it’s in person or on Teams.
  • Experience working across a multi-site or remote workforce.
  • A commercial mindset: you link learning to performance and results.
  • Strong relationship builder who can challenge, coach, and influence at all levels.

Nice-to-haves

  • Coaching qualification or practical coaching experience.
  • Exposure to digital learning tools and platforms.
  • Background in retail, healthcare, or other fast-paced environments.
  • Experience managing induction or compliance training programmes.

What makes you stand out

You’re a doer and a thinker — just as comfortable rolling your sleeves up to deliver a session as you are shaping the big picture. You bring ideas, energy, and urgency. You don’t just follow best practice — you define it.

You care deeply about making people better at what they do — and making it happen at scale. You see capability building not as a support function, but as a performance driver.

About the Company

For over 70 years, we’ve been looking after the health and wellbeing of communities across the UK. Well Pharmacy (part of Bestway Healthcare) is the second largest pharmacy chain in the UK with c.760 pharmacies and a team of around 7,000 colleagues based across our Community Pharmacies, Online Pharmacy, Healthcare Services Centre, Community Drivers, Bestway Medhub & Wardles team and our Support Centre team.

Our mission is to be here for the wellbeing of our patients and customers, to provide the best community pharmacy experience in the UK for everyone, for our patients, our customers, our people, and our NHS.

The pharmacy of the future will look very different from the one we know today. It will play a huge role in transforming primary healthcare and we will play a central role in bringing it to life.

We will use our clinical expertise and technological ambition to take advantage of the potential this future has to offer us. Making medicines, advice, services and care available in the places and spaces that people need and want it most.

We want to be a great business. To be recognised as delivering a community pharmacy experience that is the best there is. To do this we want our teams to feel proud about the positive impact they make, feel valued as part of a close-knit and expert community, and feel confident in their role in a business that is stable, innovative, and caring.
