Team Manager

Overview of the role

Reporting to the shift operations manager, the Team Manager will lead and manage a Team of colleagues across various departments in the warehouse environment during the assigned shift. Ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient handling, storage, and distribution of pharmaceutical products in line with GDP, SOPs, and regulatory standards. The role is accountable for operational performance, people management, inventory accuracy, and continuous improvement.

Main Responsibility

          Primary Accountabilities

 

  • Effectively manage Warehouse Colleagues and Team Co-ordinators to deliver daily operational targets.
  • Manage staffing levels and resources in line with planned and fluctuating volumes to achieve throughput and cost targets.
  • Drive productivity performance to exceed site KPIs.
  • Analyse operational reports and data to support decision-making and escalation processes.
  • Drive a culture of Health & Safety through visible leadership and proactive behaviours.
  • Maintain safe housekeeping standards across all operational areas.
  • Ensure accurate and effective shift handovers to maintain operational continuity.
  • Drive adherence to operational processes and quality standards.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the assigned operational area.
  • Support and maintain SOPs and Risk Assessments.


    Secondary Accountabilities
     
  • Support a culture of Continuous Improvement using Operational Excellence principles.
  • Support delivery and auditing of 5S standards.
  • Manage team skill flexibility to support changing throughput requirements.
  • Optimise storage and conveyor utilisation to minimise waste and unnecessary movement.
  • Drive cross-functional working to achieve site-wide KPIs and customer expectations.
  • Deputise for the Shift Operations Manager when required.
  • Participate in operational reviews and process improvement discussions.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience within a warehouse, logistics, or supply chain operations environment. 
  • Previous experience in a management or supervisory role managing operational teams. 
  • Experience within pharmaceutical operations is desirable but not essential. 
  • Strong understanding of warehouse processes including goods receipt, storage, picking & dispatch.
  • Knowledge of health & safety practices and operational compliance standards. 
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and make effective decisions in a fast-paced operational environment. 
  • Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and operational reporting tools. 
  • Strong problem-solving and organisational skills with a continuous improvement mindset. 
  • Flexible approach to shift working and operational demands.
