Overview of the role
We are seeking an experienced Warehouse Technician to join our team in Redditch!
The Warehouse Technician is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of a semi-automated picking system within the warehouse. As part of an experienced, hard working team, the role will support daily order fulfilment by monitoring system performance, resolving operational issues, maintaining equipment, and working closely with warehouse, engineering, and operational teams to maximise productivity while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and accuracy.
Main Responsibility
Operational Support
• Operate and monitor the semi-automated picking system to ensure efficient workflow.
• Respond promptly to system alarms, faults, and operational interruptions.
• Clear product jams and recover system faults safely, following standard operating procedures.
• Restart equipment following planned or unplanned stoppages.
• Monitor system performance and escalate recurring issues where appropriate.
Equipment Maintenance
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance activities.
• Conduct basic mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic adjustments where authorised.
• Replace consumable and wear components as required.
• Maintain housekeeping standards around automation equipment.
Fault Finding
• Work with maintenance engineers to resolve complex equipment issues.
• Identify recurring faults and recommend improvements to increase equipment reliability.
• Support root cause investigations following equipment failures.
Warehouse Operations
• Ensure orders are picked accurately and efficiently.
• Support stock movement and replenishment activities as required.
• Assist with inventory accuracy through cycle counting and stock verification.
The Ideal Candidate
Essential experience:
Experience working within a warehouse or distribution environment
Experience operating automated or semi-automated material handling equipment
Good mechanical aptitude and basic fault finding skills
Ability to interpret system alarms and follow troubleshooting procedures
Good communication and team work skills
Basic computer literacy
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work safely under pressure in a fast paced environment
Desirable:
Previous maintenance or engineering experience
Knowledge of PLC controlled equipment (operator level)
FLT licence
