Compliance Auditor - North of the UK

Overview of the role

Working with Divisional Field Team to embed key store controls and culture to protect the safety of our staff, reduce losses, protect the margin and to help optimise sales and enforce new ways of working across the Division.

Main Responsibility

  • Visit stores within geographical area, championing the correct business procedures and controls. Conducting an independent review of the store’s compliance to best practice/procedures by challenging control breaches and coaching Colleagues to be successful, thereby improving individual store and Divisional profitability.
  • Provide appropriate specialist support gathering and documenting evidence and assist in the management of investigations of reported crime and procedural breaches. Work closely with internal stakeholders including ER and external parties, such as the police, to conclude investigations and review lessons learnt.
  • Assist in the design & build of the annual compliance audit, working with internal stakeholders to ensure the content of the audit is aligned to the strategic objectives of the business.
  • Develop and maintain Intranet guidance and training modules in relation to compliance audits.
  • Provide assistance and support to the Divisional teams in the delivery of operational compliance in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring the stores complete any action plans in a timely manner by working with the AOM field teams.
  • Highlight key reports to management especially emerging risks.
  • Carry out any specific instructions from the Risk & Compliance Manager and Compliance Audit Team Leader to support the delivery of the overall department strategy.
  • Work closely with other Compliance Auditors to share best practice, ensuring consistency with compliance audits.
  • Assist in the training of any new team members.

Problem solving & change:

  • Working to a set of agreed objectives to support in delivering the department and wider business strategy.
  • Responsible for planning own diary for completion of audits within set geographical area and UK travel where required.
  • Reactive planning based on exception reports and investigations.
  • Establishing business risks effecting profitability.
  • Challenging poor performance and providing recommendations for improvement.

Key knowledge and skills required for the role:

  • General knowledge of risk & profit protection requirements within a corporate and retail environment
  • Working experience of incident investigations
  • Understanding of current investigations and regulatory legislation e.g. PACE & Data Protection
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective presentation skills and report writing ability
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications
  • Ability to influence line and business operational management
