Overview of the role
Join Lexon, a leading pharmaceutical wholesaler (part of Bestway Healthcare), as a Security Officer at our Leeds Distribution Depot. Reporting to the Senior Security Officer, you'll be responsible for protecting our workforce, premises, stock, and assets while helping to create a safe and secure environment for everyone on site.
We're looking for a proactive and dependable security professional who enjoys working in a busy distribution setting. In return, you'll become part of a growing business where your contribution is valued and where you'll play an important role in supporting the safe and efficient operation of our depot.
These roles will work on a shift pattern rotation (week 1 early, week 2 lates). The shift hours are:
Early: 6am - 2pm
Late: 2pm - 10pm
Main Responsibility
- Control access to the premises, preventing unauthorised entry through the effective use of access control systems, CCTV, and physical security measures.
- Conduct regular patrols and provide a visible security presence to promote a strong security culture across the site.
- Maintain accurate records, logs, and evidential documentation for investigations and legal purposes.
- Support management with internal investigations and the gathering of relevant evidence and information.
- Collate and maintain accurate search records and security-related documentation.
- Act as the point of contact for emergency services during incidents, alarm activations, and site evacuations.
- Conduct colleague, visitor, contractor, and vehicle searches using handheld detection devices and authorised random search procedures.
- Assist management in maintaining compliance with health and safety policies and procedures.
- Carry out scheduled inspections of fire safety systems, including sprinkler pump houses, fire alarm systems, and emergency lighting, reporting any issues to the Security Manager.
- Monitor and respond to security alarms, CCTV alerts, and incidents, escalating concerns where appropriate.
- Complete daily security reports and incident records, ensuring all information is accurate and up to date.
- Support site opening, closing, and lock-up procedures, ensuring the security of buildings, assets, and perimeter controls.
The Ideal Candidate
- Hold a valid SIA license
• Working knowledge of CCTV, intruder alarms and security equipment
• High attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft office applications
• The ability to work within a team environment to achieve team/department objectives
• Confident and professional telephone manner
