Depot Manager

Overview of the role

Responsible for the day to day running of warehouse operations as well as leading and motivating a team. You will ensure the warehouse operation delivers a quality service to our customers.

Main Responsibility

  • Manage day to day running of the warehouse and a team of operatives and drivers.
  • Ensure strict GDP principles are adhered to and monitor compliance to standard operating procedures.
  • Provide effective leadership and motivation through regular team briefings.
  • Monitor and manage budgets, lead and support in continuous improvement.
  • Ensure customer service is maintained to achieve highest customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure that overheads are managed within the budgetary limits.
  • Effectively implement all inventory management procedures related to Inbound and Outbound processes in line with company guidelines.
  • Ensure that site picking accuracy levels are of highest standards within the KPI.
  • Ensure products are transported correctly as per labelled storage conditions.
  • Ensuring training and competency assessment of a nominated deputy person.
  • Develop the people within the department, ensuring a robust succession plan for the department with a highly engaged team.
  • Use plan vs actual data, statistics and reports to support stakeholder engagement and challenging areas of risk with a holistic view of the operation.
  • Lead on Design, embedding and review planning processes and procedures to identify areas of improvement.
  • Lead on delivering strategic change through the team and through to the plan provide effective solutions for proactive scenarios.

Key knowledge and skills required for the role:

  • Proven work experience of managing a warehouse or distribution centre including dealing with a level of product complexity.
  • Experience of working within a robust HSE compliant environment.
  • Experience of managing team.
  • Ability to drive change in a positive way.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills coupled with an ability to prioritise work
  • Strong communications skills, both written and oral with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Organised, structured thinker with strong focus on process and procedures
  • Team player, service orientated, supportive and innovative.
  • Proven ability to implement process improvement initiative
  • Ability to work in a busy, demanding environment, whilst adhering to stringent deadlines
  • Good problem-solving skills
