Join Our Team as an Employment Relations Advisor

Are you an experienced HR professional with a passion for employee relations and employment law? Do you thrive on providing expert advice, building strong stakeholder relationships, and helping managers navigate complex people matters with confidence?

We're looking for a proactive and knowledgeable Employment Relations Advisor to join our People team. In this role, you'll be the trusted expert for managers across our wholesale business, delivering practical, commercially focused advice while ensuring compliance with employment legislation and company policies.

Main Responsibility

As our Employment Relations Advisor, you'll manage a varied caseload and play a key role in supporting positive employee outcomes across the organisation. Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Providing expert employee relations advice and guidance via phone, email, and virtual channels.
  • Managing ER cases from initial consultation through to resolution, ensuring timely and effective outcomes.
  • Supporting managers with disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence management, and other employee relations processes.
  • Preparing hearing documentation, meeting packs, outcome letters, and related correspondence.
  • Identifying potential legal and business risks and providing practical recommendations to mitigate them.
  • Maintaining accurate case records and ensuring all activity is recorded within our Case Management System.
  • Monitoring absence trends and supporting managers in effectively managing attendance.
  • Collaborating with HR colleagues and external specialists where additional support is required.
  • Keeping up to date with employment law developments and ensuring policies and practices reflect current legislation and best practice.
  • Delivering a professional, customer-focused service that supports managers and employees alike.

The Ideal Candidate

We're seeking someone who combines strong technical HR knowledge with excellent communication and relationship-building skills. You'll bring:

  • Proven experience in an HR Advisor, Employee Relations Advisor, or similar HR role with responsibility for ER case management.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations best practice.
  • Experience advising and influencing managers at different levels of an organisation.
  • The ability to assess situations quickly, identify risks, and provide balanced, pragmatic advice.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Associate CIPD qualification (or working towards) is desirable, although equivalent experience will also be considered.
