Finance Business Partner - Strategic Projects

Overview of the role

As our FP&A Business partner your purpose will be to provide the relevant financial and analytical support to aid and guide decision making within Finance, Property and Portfolio teams and drive improved investment decision making within the business. You will make financial projections based on markets and trends.

Main Responsibility

  • Support and partner with Property team. You will be responsible for providing financial evaluation of current Well branches, including quarterly update of 9 Box Grid, answer any questions raised by solicitors or surveyors during disposal process and lead financial assessment for any larger acquisitions (create business case, calculate payback on investment, perform post investment appraisals).
  • You will lead budget process for Retail property costs (rent, rates, service charge etc.), Portfolio and Estate team. You will also support Central budgets inc. exceptional costs, CAPEX, depreciation and other. During budgeting process, you will partner with your manager, Head of FP&A, in consolidating budgets and overseeing the figures for the entire business and provide any required support.
  • Monthly reporting and tracking of synergies and integration costs. You will be consolidating these figures from different teams across the company (Operations, IT, Buying, Procurement and People team as well as Margin and Retail business partners) and will be able to answer any queries from key stakeholders.
  • As part of monthly process, you will review exceptional costs of the business, keep record of what was posted and instruct support team in Pakistan to accrue any costs or re-allocate where necessary.
  • You will support the head of FP&A in updating monthly board packs, including updating monthly business KPIs, P&Ls, Capex and any other queries which might come from the board. 
  • Competitor benchmarking analysis for Retail & Wholesale part of the business is being run twice a year. This task will involve updating financial accounts from Companies house for all our competitors and benchmarking their performance to Well. As part of this process, we also review wholesale market share.  These reports are then shared and presented to CFO and CEO of the business as well as Wholesale and Retail operational directors.
  • You will be involved in NDA projects working with FP&A Head, CFO, Legal team and any external finance or legal advisors. You will do market scanning for new opportunities, and you will use your financial modelling and analytical skills, while building business cases and presenting new opportunities to the business.

Key knowledge and skills required:

  • ACCA or CIMA part qualified or experience qualified.
  • Advanced Excel skills, analytical skills, and good attention to detail.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.

  • You will be able to work under pressure and know how to prioritise tasks.
  • Good problem solving skills
  • You will be able to help with financial decisions.
  • Hands on approach.
  • Applying commercial understanding to reporting & analysis, aligning to delivering business priorities.
