MDS Operational Support Colleague

Overview of the role

Shift Pattern: Alternating weekly shifts

  • Week 1: 6:00am – 2:00pm
  • Week 2: 2:00pm – 10:00pm

We are looking for a detail-focused and organised Operational Support Assistant to join our MDS Central Fulfilment Hub team. This role plays a key part in supporting the safe, accurate and efficient preparation and dispatch of checked MDS orders, helping ensure excellent service delivery and patient safety at all times.

Working within a regulated pharmacy environment, you will carry out trained non-dispensing operational tasks, ensuring orders are accurately allocated, packed, recorded and prepared for dispatch in line with standard operating procedures and governance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare checked MDS orders for dispatch by accurately packing patient bags and allocating them to the correct store deliveries.
  • Reconcile patient lists, store details and dispatch contents to ensure accuracy before release.
  • Generate courier shipments, print and apply dispatch labels, and record tracking information.
  • Allocate pharmacy orders within the Synmed Master System using weekly store schedules and operational workflows.
  • Use ACF systems to generate daily and cycle-specific store lists.
  • Cross-check information across Synmed, Synsoft and operational systems to ensure correct store and cycle allocation.
  • Maintain accurate operational records and complete daily checklists.
  • Escalate discrepancies or concerns promptly to the Accuracy Checking Team or management.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with SOPs, operational procedures and patient confidentiality requirements.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities to deadline.
  • Basic to intermediate IT skills, including confidence using operational systems, courier portals and spreadsheets.
  • Clear communication skills with confidence to escalate issues appropriately.
  • Ability to follow structured processes consistently and safely.
  • Experience within pharmacy operations, warehouse operations or another accuracy-critical environment would be advantageous.

Essential Requirements

  • Completion of the required MDS CF training pack with formal sign-off by an authorised colleague and Responsible Pharmacist or Operations Manager.
  • Understanding of governance, SOPs and the boundaries of a non-dispensing operational role.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
