Quality Assurance Officer

Overview of the role

We are seeking a proactive and detail‑focused Quality Assurance Officer to support our QA Management Team and wider business in delivering key quality governance activities. This role is central to ensuring ongoing GDP (Good Distribution Practice) compliance across our Durham and Leeds sites. You will play a key part in maintaining our Quality Management System, supporting operational teams, and ensuring our sites remain inspection-ready at all times.

Main Responsibility

  • Management of Deviation, CAPA and Change Controls in collaboration with the site operations team
  • Oversight of Pest control, maintenance and other outsourced activities to ensure necessary tasks are being completed according to our Preventative Maintenance schedule
  • Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS), including document control and SOP lifecycle management
  • Ongoing review of training compliance for our colleagues to ensure the site has the necessary structures in place to evidence the training and competence of our colleagues.
  • Support the qualification and validation of systems, processes and equipment used at our sites.
  • Support qualification and ongoing approval of suppliers and customers in line with GDP requirements
  • Support investigation and trending of customer complaints in line with GDP requirements
  • Support the audit and visit schedule of onsite activities
  • Support regulatory inspections and ensure ongoing inspection readiness
  • Review of returns and recalls ensuring supply chain integrity
  • Participate in Risk Management and gap assessment activities
  • Participate in investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Escalation of any issues to the Responsible Persons on our license
  • To act as an authorised witness for the destruction of controlled drugs when named on the Home Office license.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Previous experience in a QA role, ideally in the pharmaceutical sector
  • Training provided in Good Distribution Practice and Good Manufacturing Practice, experience in this is advantageous
  • A full UK driving license. This is a multi-site role which will require overnight stays and travel between regions

Desirable

  • Experience in a life sciences-based role
  • Experience in a GxP environment
  • Experience in conducting and hosting audits
