Security Officer

Overview of the role

To provide an effective security service to the Leeds Lexon site reducing the risk to stock, buildings and colleagues. 

Please note that due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check before employment can commence. This includes both spent and unspent convictions, as well as information held by local police deemed as relevant to the role. Employment is conditional on satisfactory DBS clearance.

The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) helps employers make safer recruitment decisions and prevent unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups, including children.

Main Responsibility

•    To control access to the premises preventing unauthorised intrusion to the premises by effective use of the access control systems, including CCTV, physical barrier and access control systems 
•    To patrol and man guard the site providing a presence and security culture to your site 
•    To maintain high standards of evidential records for presentation when required
•    To assist the management team with internal investigations
•    Collating and supplying accurate and up to date information and maintain search records
•    To be a point of contact for emergency services in the event of alarm activation/evacuations to assist the incident controllers as and when required in the event of an emergency 
•    Conduct using a handheld wand device all searches are generated via the in-house access control system or manual randomiser also required to conduct searches on vehicles both colleague, visitors and contractor vehicles were necessary
•    Assist the management team to maintain compliance to health and safety
•    Carry-out scheduled checks on the fire systems including pumphouse sprinkler and fire alarm systems and emergency lighting systems briefing the Security Manager 
 

Key knowledge and skills required for the role:

•    Hold a valid SIA license 
•    Working knowledge of CCTV, intruder alarms and security equipment
•    High attention to detail
•    Working knowledge of Microsoft office applications
•    Accuracy and ability to follow instructions
•    The ability to work within a team environment to achieve team/department objectives
•    Confident and professional telephone manner
•    Effective written and verbal communication skills
