Senior Finance Business Partner - Retail Operations

Overview of the role

As the Senior Finance Business Partner, you will provide Business Partnering to the Operational Leadership Team (OLT) and Retail Operations. You will be responsible for financial planning, providing accurate financial and commercial analysis and driving operational cost efficiency for the Retail division.

The role is hybrid working with 3 days in the office, and 2 days working from home.

Main Responsibility

  • Ownership of Retail budget and reforecasts for volume-related activity and operational costs, ensuring key deadlines are met and targets are challenging but credible.
  • Develop trusted relationships with the OLT and Retail Operations teams to drive performance, achieve targets and champion continuous improvement.
  • Provide accurate and insightful weekly trading performance updates, challenging performance and working with the RLT and Retail Operations teams to identify risks and opportunities and actions to close any gaps to plan.
  • Prepare monthly updates for the Retail Operating Board, clearly explaining current financial performance and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Support growth and expansion opportunities, preparing and critically evaluating investment cases to ensure the business can make informed investment decisions.
  • Perform ad hoc and deep-dive analysis on internal performance and the external market for Retail divisions and regions,
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of the Pharmacy retail market including pricing, sales, margin & competitor activity and how this relates to internal performance.
  • Ensure market changes are understood & action is taken with regards to commercial/financial plans.
  • Drive the continuous improvement of trading reports, KPIs and analysis, ensuring updates are timely and accurate.
  • Day-to-day management of 2/3 high-performing team members, providing leadership and coaching.

Key knowledge and skills required for the role:

  • Qualified Accountant with at least 5 years PQE.
  • Stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills, with ability to build and maintain effective internal and external relationships.
  • Experience with partnering at senior levels.
  • Confident with ability to constructively challenge to drive performance.
  • Highly analytical with financial awareness and commercial acumen.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention detail.

  • Creative thinking to provide growth and cost opportunities.
