Overview of the role
The Senior Designer will be accountable for designing end-to-end, cross-platform products and services (web, Android, iOS, email, etc.) that meet the expectations of our customers and deliver value to the business.
To help Well build simple, clear and unambiguous digital services that meet the expectations of our customers and play a part in delivering our ambition to bring Well pharmacy into the digital age
Main Responsibility
- Manage a team of designers, supporting them to: take a truly data-led approach to design; manage conflicting priorities; develop the best solutions to complex UX challenges; build relationships with stakeholders and other disciplines; define and achieve professional development goals.
- Support the Head of Product to iterate CX processes and workflows, ensuring the team works efficiently to deliver consistently high-quality work
- Work alongside software engineers, product managers, content designers and user researchers to design end-to-end, cross-platform products and services that meet customers’ needs and deliver value to the business.
- Shape our digital visual brand and help define and support governance of design at Well through building pattern libraries that can be used within the digital team and the wider business.
- Be Well’s digital accessibility champion.
- Use service design techniques to understand and improve customer and user experiences.
- Promote the value of great design, and train and coach colleagues to put design thinking at the heart of their processes.
- Influence stakeholders and manage relationships effectively.
Problem Solving & Change:
- Advocate for, and demonstrate the value of customer-centred, data-led design.
- Use qualitative and quantitative evidence to make informed design decisions.
- Innovative, able to harness the opportunities presented by new and emerging technologies
- Develop tried-and-tested design approaches and components that enable others to build reliable, usable digital products.
Key knowledge and skills required:
- Expert understanding of accessible design
- Hands-on experience of cross-platform design (web, Android, iOS, emails)
- Hands-on experience of end-to-end service design
- Has a portfolio which shows measurable improvements to key customer journeys
- Experience of line management and/or mentoring
- Experience of developing re-usable design systems
- Understanding and experience of HTML, CSS and Javascript
- Ability to lead within an agile, collaborative environment
- Strong communication skills, able to clearly explain design decisions
- Expert understanding of how to design accessible, secure, responsive user interfaces
